The Government InspectorCapture

Tuesday 21 January to Friday 24 January 2025 | DEMBE Theatre, Tring.

Prepare for a riotous night of hilarity and mischief in The Government Inspector – a sharp, satirical comedy that exposes greed, vanity and corruption with a twist of chaos!

In Adrian Mitchell’s brilliant adaptation of The Government Inspector, Nikolai Gogol’s iconic satire springs to life with wit, energy, and biting humour.  The story follows the chaos that unfolds in a small provincial town when the corrupt officials mistakenly believe a lowly civil servant is a high-ranking government inspector sent to expose their misdeeds.  Packed with larger-than-life characters, absurd misunderstandings, and razor-sharp social commentary, this production brings comedy whilst delivering a scathing critique of power and greed.

Brought to you by Tring School’s Key Stage 4 and 5 students, this vibrant production features a talented ensemble cast who bring Gogol’s characters to life. From the meticulous work of the backstage crew to the dynamic performances onstage, every element of the production is crafted to immerse the audience in this madcap tale of deception and corruption. Don’t miss the hilarious and thought-provoking comedy that continues to resonate today – The Government Inspector is a theatrical experience not to be missed.
