Bursary Fund
Tring School 16-19 Bursary Fund
The 16-19 Bursary Fund, provided by the Department for Education, offers financial assistance to students aged 16-19 whose access to, or completion of their education is hindered by financial constraints. It is designed to provide financial support to eligible students, helping to cover essential costs associated with their studies and ensuring they can focus on achieving their goals.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the 2025/2026 academic year, students must be aged 16 or over and under 19 on 31 August 2025. They must also meet the residency criteria detailed in the Department for Education's funding guidance for 2025/2026, which can be found here 16-19 Bursary Fund Guide 2025-2026 - GOV.UK
Types of Bursaries
There are two types of bursaries available:
- Vulnerable Student Bursary: This provides up to £1,200 per year to specific groups, including students who are in or have recently left local authority care, or are financially supporting themselves.
- Discretionary Bursary: This is for students needing financial support to overcome barriers to participation. It can assist with costs like transport, equipment, and educational visits. To be eligible, students must live in a household with a total gross annual income of £28,000 or less.
