Mental Health Support
Students at Tring School have access to a range of mental health interventions. We triage and allocate support based on need, which may include access to a range of interventions, including;
- Counselling
- Mentoring (peer or through MCR Pathways)
- Mental Health Support Team (NHS ‘MHST’)
- Skills-based Interventions - CBT
- Increased Pastoral Support
Support and approaches vary depending on the presenting need of the child and are formulated on a case-by-case basis, often collaborating with external agencies and parents and carers. Student voice is an integral part of this additional service at our school and we work closely with our student body to ensure services are accessible for all.
School Counselling Service
Our School Counselling Service provides a therapeutic approach to support individuals navigating challenging periods or processing difficult life events and circumstances.
Since September 2025, the service has been delivered in partnership with Circle Therapy.
Circle Therapy brings over a decade of experience in delivering expert mental health support to children and families within educational settings. Their team of trauma-informed practitioners, led by Gayle Hammil, holds specialist expertise in areas including:
- Anxiety
- Attachment
- Bereavement
- Self-harm
- Neurodiversity
Circle Therapy adheres to NICE guidelines for treatment delivery, with sessions periodically reviewed to ensure the most appropriate individual support is in place.
Service Oversight and Consent
The overall service at Tring School is overseen by Miss Ellie-Maye Gosling, who works closely with Circle Therapy’s clinical lead.
In line with ethical practice, counselling is a consent-based service. It can only commence with the full consent of the student undergoing therapy. To ensure safe practice, we also require parental consent before therapy begins.
To refer for school counselling, please speak with your child’s Form Tutor or Pastoral Lead.
