On 6 February year 10 student Rebekah McLaren was crowned Young Chef of the Year at a competition held at Oaklands College, St Albans. Rebekah and fellow Tring student Alice Tymms competed along with 30 other young chefs, having submitted a recipe for a starter, main and dessert. Rebekah’s winning dish was home made tomato broth with pesto & mozzarella focaccia presented in a bone china tea pot & cup. Part of Rebekah’s prize is the opportunity to have work experience at Oaklands College or the Lussmanns restaurant who sponsored the event. Rebekah was invited to sign the book of commendation by Mrs Collings.
