Royal Institute Engineering Master Class 2016

eng1Tring School was represented by 7 year 9 students at this years first engineering master class session titled ‘building bridges’. Eavie, Jade and Philippa performed exceptionally well considering they were only a three member team whereas the others were all teams of fours.

Teams from Roundwood Park, Cavendish and St George’s Schools took part with Tring School in a challenge to build a bridge 600mm long using lolly sticks , cocktail sticks and gum sweets. The students had to design , make and test their bridges in 2 hours with the Technical Input and final judgements being made by Dr David Jazani from the University of Bedfordshire.

The six part master class series is part of a nationwide initiative launched by the Royal Institution targeting more able yr 9 students and is coordinated by Mr David Lane, ably assisted by Mrs Barbara Urbanowicz and Mrs Hilary Knight all from Tring School.eng2
