This comfortable and welcoming environment encourages reading, research & study.

Learning Resources

The Learning Resource Centre holds in excess of 15,000 learning resources available to loan to students and the whole school community.

These include over 12,000 books, daily newspapers, weekly and monthly magazines as well as print copies of journals to support AS & A2 courses and an increasing number of on-line resources.

Learning Resources Catalogue

lrc-resourcesWith the introduction of the new library management system Eclipse.net students, parents and teachers can now:

  • Manage their own accounts and reserve resources
  • Access the school catalogue from home
  • Use multiple search options to help develop their information literacy skills
  • Use the ‘Meet the Author’ video clips to inspire them to read more and use their creative writing skills
  • Write book reviews for other students to use when deciding on their next book

Reading Lists

Computer Suite

Computers are situated on the Ground & Mezzanine Floors and are booked for lessons during the school day. Computers are available to sixth formers in the Sixth Form Study Area all day


Computers are available for students to use before and after school school and during break and luchtime for school and homework only.

Students are reminded that playing computer games is not permitted in the Learning Resource Centre and that the viewing of videos or listening to music via the on-line music stations is permitted for educational purposes only

All students are expected to adhere to the ICT Acceptable Use Policy/Code of Conduct.

Sixth Form Area

The Sixth Form Study Area is a dedicated space for sixth formers to use for quiet study throughout the school day when they are not in lessons.


Computers are provided for the exclusive use of sixth formers.

Key Stage 5 fiction and non-fiction books are also situated in this area together with AS & A2 coursework books.

Homework Club

The Homework Support Club is held in the LRC after school on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, 3.20 pm – 4.20 pm

The LRC is used for Exams and as such will occasionally be unavailable for general use
