Our Year 10 students spent a noisy and busy day working with Bright Green Enterprise, developing their business and enterprise skills. With their time as Year 10 coming to an end and a science exam scheduled for the next day, it was a day to be creative and try something new.
The aim of the day was to learn a range of business processes such as planning, marketing, budget management skills and product design. They were asked to design a model of a product with “green” attributes, eg it could be used to recycle something, save energy or be made of a recycled material. They worked together in small teams, with the promise of cash prizes to motivate ideas!
To help with creativity, Bright Green Enterprise set a series of small challenges and tasks to the teams during the morning. They also watched film clips and heard about a project in Africa which created skylights out of used plastic water bottles. Completely simple but which has changed lives for families in the poorest parts of Africa where windows are beyond their housing budget.
The afternoon was spent creating their models and putting together presentations. The photos say it all, there are hundreds of things you can do with cardboard, tape and coloured paper!
Congratulations to our winners, Team No. 6, Ascott. Second was Team No. 28, Waddesdon, Third was Team No. 17, Halton.
Congratulations to everyone for taking part.
