Pupils who have access to a wide range of activities and understand the physical, mental and social benefits that develop as a result of being involved in Sport and Physical Education

Pupils who have a sound knowledge of how an active lifestyle involving sport can contribute to a healthy lifestyle

Pupils who have the opportunity to take part in sport at whatever level is appropriate for them both through curriculum lessons and through extra-curricular activities

 

Curriculum

The school has outstanding facilities for sport including – a large sports hall, 25m swimming pool, floodlit all weather pitch, gymnasium and extensive playing fields.

 

Key Stage 3

Pupils in Years 7-9 currently have two hours of Physical Education a week.

 

Key Stage 4

Pupils have the opportunity to opt for GCSE Physical Education (5 lessons per fortnight). All pupils have two hours of Physical Education each week (on top of any GCSE PE lessons) and also have the opportunity to become involved with the Junior Sports Leaders Award in Year 10.

Pupils also have to opportunity to opt for BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport (5 hours per fortnight).

All pupils will have the opportunity to choose to complete the BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Sport during their compulsory PE lessons (2 hours per week).

 

Key Stage 5

We offer the A level course in Physical Education.

Pupils also have the opportunity to opt for BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport.
