Exceptional GCSE Results for Tring School – Thursday 26 August 2016

Tring School is celebrating an exceptional set of GSCE results with 11% of students achieving at least eight A* and A grades − and more than half of pupils gaining at least one A* or A. The overall performance shows a 5% improvement upon 2015 which was itself a very successful year.

Harriet Grout: 5A*s, 6 As, and 1B
Georgina Haddock: 6 A*s, 3As, 2Bs
Haider Maqsood: 4A*s, 6As and a Distinction*
Anna Sevigny:  4A*s, 6As
William Marshall: 4A*s, 4As, and 3Bs
Ella Morris-Skingley: 3A*s, 5As and a Distinction*

Paddy Dunphy gained an A^ in Further Maths − an achievement which places him amongst the very top Maths students in the country.

Many of Tring’s GSCE students will move on to the school’s Sixth Form – which achieved outstanding A-level results this year, with almost half gaining A* and A grades.

Commenting on the results, Headteacher Sue Collings said: “We are absolutely delighted for our GCSE students, whose exceptional exam results will provide a very strong foundation for their next steps in education and future careers.

“We are particularly pleased with the continued progress that this group of students have made during their time at Tring and we look forward to welcoming many of them into our Sixth Form in September.

“Staff, parents and governors can all be very proud of these achievements − not just academic success alone, but also in the Tring School philosophy of nurturing well-rounded students who are fully prepared for today’s world”.

Tring School achieves outstanding A-level and BTEC results

Tring School is once again celebrating outstanding A-level and BTEC results with 49.6% of students achieving A*, A and Distinction grades – increasing the number of pupils receiving top grades by 17%.

This year’s A-level results will continue to rank Tring School’s Sixth Form as one of the most successful in both Hertfordshire and nationally.

Head Girl Carys Reid-Davies achieved a very impressive 2A*s and A, accomplished alongside the extensive leadership responsibilities she has held during the academic year. Carys is going on to study Film, Photography and Media at the University of Leeds.

Amongst the many other A-level success stories some of the high performers include Jack Murphy who achieved 3 A*s, Lauren Renshaw with two A*s and one A and James Child (who is expecting to be studying veterinary medicine at Cambridge) with one A* and three As. Oliver Ayling and Emily Durrant both achieved one A* and two As. Meanwhile Olivia Dawson and Victoria Gibbons both achieved three As.   

In the BTEC qualifications, James Gurnett achieved two Distinction*s (equivalent to an A* at A Level) and one Distinction, whilst Imogen Davies achieved two Distinction*s and one B at A Level.

Tring’s A-level and BTEC students are now moving on to their favoured destinations, including taking up degree courses at top universities, apprenticeships, jobs with training or taking a gap year to travel.

Commenting on this year’s results, Headteacher Sue Collings said: “These fantastic results are a testament to the hard work and determination of our students, who continue to embrace every learning opportunity. These exceptional grades are proof that Tring School is a great place for education.

“The ongoing commitment of our staff, parents and governors also plays an important part in supporting our pupils to achieve excellence and I would like to thank them for their continued efforts.
